Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Los Angeles Air Force Base is searching for a Deputy Director of Human Capital (NH-0201-04, GS-14/15 Equivalent). Description: Exciting opportunity to join the US Space Force and Space Systems Command (SSC) in sunny California! Experience an exciting mission set in the Space Force's largest Field Command responsible for multi-billion dollar systems acquisitions. Join SSC's S1 Human Capital Directorate and have an immediate positive impact on people, from recruitment to retirement! Ideal Candidate: Top Qualities: Leader, collaborator, and integrator of 5 divisions and an admin team in support of S1 Human Capital Directorate and SSC. Self-starter who will have the ability to think and act strategically and operate, when necessary, at the operational and tactical levels. Personnel/HR/force support/manpower background strongly desired, preferably from DOD (not mandatory). Recruitment Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Expert knowledge of a wide range of Human Capital laws, executive orders, regulations, policies, directives, instructions, and concepts governing functions such as force management, training and development, succession planning, talent acquisition, talent management, engagement, performance or other programs related to personnel management within the federal government. 2. Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of DOD and Space Force organizations to provide HQ-level staff guidance on technical activities. 3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and supervise, mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors. 4. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of subordinate organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. 5. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy. 6. Ability to multi-process and continuously adjust priorities. 7. Understanding of the value of a diverse workforce, and dedication to ensuring equal opportunity in all aspects of employment. 8. Considerable knowledge of the trends and modern technology now being implemented in the human resources fields. 9. Ability to develop long term plans and goals for the human resources programs. 10. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of personnel records and discussions. 11. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other officials, directors, mangers, supervisors and employees. 12. Ability to be innovative and creative in designing new programs, proposing policy changes, and recommending motivational and organizational development to managers. 13. Skills in problem-solving, conflict resolution, and group facilitation.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • PCS/Relocation funding is available.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • May be required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • This position is eligible for telework 2-4 days a pay period.
