The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and train other technicians with troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, testing, calibrating, and certifying a variety of standard and nonstandard Electronic/Mechanical/physical Dimensional (TMDE).
Duties
Serves as Subject Matter Expert for a crew of mechanics engaged in the repair, modification, calibration and certification of Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
Troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, modifies, tests, calibrates and certifies a variety of standard and nonstandard complex test equipment such as multi-function digital systems, complete calibration systems, test sets, coding/encoding calibration systems, microwave equipment, radar and test consoles, high frequency sampling and storage oscilloscopes, distortion analyzers, signal analyzers, signal generators, pressure TMDE, Temperature, and Mass TMDE
Prepares all certification paperwork required and documents work assignments using PMEL Automated Maintenance System (PAMS) computer or Facility Equipment Management System (FEMS).
Instructs on proper use and systems applications of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment
Demonstrates to other workers the use, care and handling, of various precision measurement standards and instruments such as generators, oscilloscopes, and analyzers to perform functional test and calibration of electronic test equipment serviced.
Communicates and demonstrates to other workers, safety practices and procedures, established safety rules and regulations and promotes a safe and clean work environment.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the Electronic Equipment Installation and Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee typically works in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. May be required to work at remote user locations under variable conditions or within clean room environments where special garments including head coverings, shoe coverings, and gloves are required. Exposed to the possibility of electric shock; burns from electrical or RF energy or hot solder; and cuts and bruises
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
