This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), USCG Training Center (TRACEN) Petaluma, CA.
Duties
You will serve as an Information Technology (IT) Cybersecurity Specialist (CUSTSPT) in the USCG Training Center, providing technical support to customers who need assistance utilizing client-level hardware and software in accordance with established or approved organizational process components (i.e., Master Incident Management Plan, when applicable).

Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal service.
Specialized experience must include the following: Resume must demonstrate you have met the specialized experience.
Identify cyber security vulnerabilities and act on tasking from cyber security specialists.
Manage multiple IT projects at various stages of Project Lifecycle including developing new IT products to meet stakeholder needs.
Communicating with internal and external stakeholders and customers on IT related matters.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement, you must also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the 4 competencies listed below.
Innovation – Deploy novel IT solutions to a constantly evolving training program. Ability to convert strategic planning into tangible usable and reliable hardware and software products.
Customer Service – Work with stakeholders and customers (that is, training professionals, cyber security specialists, IT and electronics specialists, and government personnel) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems or assist with development of IT related solutions to unique requirements.
Oral Communication – Express information to individuals or groups effectively, considering the audience and nature of the information; make clear and convincing oral presentations, listen to others, attend to nonverbal cues, and effectively lead teams to accomplish goals.
Written Communication – Ability to communicate technical requirements and resource proposals to stakeholders in written correspondence articulating action and impact of a variety of different courses of action.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.

Student Loan: Selectee(s) for this position who are newly appointed to a permanent or term position may be eligible for student loan repayment up to $10,000 (pre-tax) for one calendar year. More than one loan may be repaid if the combined repayments do not exceed $10,000. Receipt of this incentive will require a three-year service agreement.
