Duties
As a Public Health Analyst (Issues Management) you will:
Respond to Congressional/Executive Branch inquiries and correspondence requesting information regarding Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) strategies, programs, and responses to health problems; data; and general information requested about public health issues.
Oversee special projects through researching and/or analyzing problems, issues, or program requirements that may be unstable or complex.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with external public and private partners and other organizational units within CDC, including other national centers, and offices within the CDC Office of the Director.
Develop new strategic or programmatic initiatives and assess issues of concern or importance to the mission and public health goals of the program.
Provide analysis and synthesis in support of those responsible for answering Congressional and constituent organization requests, including controlled correspondence, telephone, and other immediate requests that are highly sensitive and complex, and ensure that responses are consistent with the organization's mission and goals.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience: drafting content for congressional briefings, strategic analysis, and creating responses to congressional inquiries; working with DC based partners; developing materials to prepare for briefings/meetings; and drafting responses for leadership and interagency requests for information.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
College or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to
