Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-05 level, you must have one of the following:• 3 years of full-time* general experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least the GS-04 level, that demonstrates the ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; plan and organize work; and communicate effectively orally and in writing• 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in any field• equivalent combination of education and experience
To qualify for the GS-07 level, you must have one of the following:• 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level defined as collecting, reviewing, and/or preparing reports of non-technical information related to environmental protection• 1 full year of graduate level education; or superior academic achievement (Superior Academic Achievement Definition); the education must provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position• equivalent combination of education and experience
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERLA)/Superfund technical and enforcement programs.
Ability to manage and prioritize work.
Ability to collaborate with others.
Skill in written communication.
Skill in oral communication.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
