Duties

This position serves as the Supervisory Recreation Fee Specialist for Mammoth Cave National park and is responsible for the day to day operations of a large fee program that brings in $6 million annually. The Supervisory Recreation Fee Specialist ensures the proper collection, remitting and security measures are in place and serves as the technical subject matter expert on RM-22 guidelines. The Supervisory Fee Specialist supervises, provides guidance, schedules, hires, and oversees 6 to 20 Recreation Fee Technician. The incumbent works closely with the staff on any issues related to visitors, fee collection, camping permits, reservations, accountability, and deposits.

REQUIREMENTS CONTINUED: Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program. Employee is required to enter cave environment, which, might include tight spaces, variant temperatures, radon exposures, and cave animals including bats. QUALIFICATIONS: All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-07/03/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 for each federal position listed as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of qualifying experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: handling, tracking, or depositing monies; using software programs to maintain financial/accounting data (such as fee and stock data); performing fee collection, accounting or financial duties; using tools or equipment (e.g., cash registers, calculators, etc.) to make sales transactions; or ensuring accountability of funds and accurate financial records. You must include hours per week worked.. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree or LL.B or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. (You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts indicating degree earned and credit hours in order to qualify based on education.). -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. NOTE: only graduate education beyond the first year is creditable. Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
