About the Position: Position is located in the office of the Deputy Commander of NAVAL HEALTH CLINIC CHARLESTON, Charleston South Carolina. The incumbent provides clerical and administrative assistance to the Deputy Commander responsible for directing and managing patient care services within a major medical treatment facility (MTF).
Duties
Receives telephone calls, greets visitors, and ascertains the nature of the calls or visits.
Reviews and processes incoming and outgoing correspondence, materials, publications, regulations, and directives.
Communicate with department staff to manage the department conference room schedules.
Understand Medical Terminology used in official correspondence and meetings.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A qualified typist is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining multiple office calendars/schedules; taking meeting notes; creating and reviewing correspondence for grammar, format and regulatory compliance; using a variety of automated systems such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), timekeeping (i.e., ATAAPS), and travel (Defense Travel System) to assist staff with travel arrangements and claims. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-07.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
