This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. Duties

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Maintenance Superintendent, Air Reserve Technician (ART), in either the Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (MS), Rescue Squadron (RQS), or Rescue Group (RQG). In this capacity, incumbent serves as the senior technical supervisor over subordinate supervisors and workers engaged in the total aircraft maintenance functions. Additionally, trains reservists in the duties and responsibilities. RESPONSIBILITITES: 1. Performs work planning responsibilities. Plans on a quarterly or longer basis the overall use of personnel and other resources in two or more separate organizational segments or groups controlled through one or more levels of supervision. 2. Performs work direction responsibilities. Assigns and explains work requirements and operating instructions to subordinate supervisors and sets deadlines and establishes the sequence of work operations to be followed. Maintains balanced workloads by shifting assignments, workers, and other resources to achieve the most effective work operations. 3. Performs administrative responsibilities. Participates with subordinate supervisors/employees in the development of performance plans. Advises them in advance of performance expectations. Provides feedback on strengths and weaknesses. 4. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WS-8800 Aircraft Overhaul Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work as Aircraft Overhaul Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Comprehensive knowledge of assigned weapon systems including airframes, aircraft systems, and the interrelationships among systems and aircraft power plants, needed to make various operational checks and verify established performance limits. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: 1. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA). The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. 2. May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments. 3. The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position. 4. This is a testing designated position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. 5. This is a designated KEY position. The term "KEY" as it is used here relates to the ART program that defines the position as critical to mobilization capability (i.e., formulates, determines or influences policies of the unit to which assigned), and has no relationship to the term "KEY" as defined in AFI 36-507. 6.
