This position is located in the Acquisition Support Office (CG-924), in the Acquisition Directorate (CG-9), Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, DC. 

Duties

You will provide subject matter expertise regarding Coast Guard acquisition policies, processes and procedures and ensure compliance with the Department of Homeland Security acquisition management policies and procedures and play a major role in the review and periodic updating of the Coast Guard Major System Acquisition Management Instruction  and the Non-Major Acquisition Program Instruction.  You will also maintain current knowledge of acquisition management policies (including acquisition software development policies), processes, and best practices used by other government agencies for comparison.  You will provide assistance during pre-acquisition activities leading to the initiation and establishment of an acquisition program.

Qualifications

To Qualify for the GS-13: Applicants must possess specialized experience equivalent to 1 year of experience at the next lowest grade level (GS-12) that is similar to experience gained in the federal sector.  Your resume must meet all of the specialized experience below: Examples of specialized experience includes: 1. Providing subject matter expertise on acquisition policies, processes and procedures; 2. Ensuring proper planning and compliance with agency acquisition and investment policy and procedures at each milestone for all projects/programs. 3. Supporting and participating in outreach activities and initiatives including coordinating workshops, training courses, orientations and conferences.     4. Analyze operational capability deficiencies and determine the need for new system acquisitions.                                    Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. or related to this line of work. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
