This position is located in Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), DEP COMDT FOR MISSION SUPPORT ASST COMDT FOR ENGINEERING AND LOGISTICS (CG-4), OFFICE OF CIVIL ENGINEERING (CG-43), SHORE INFRASTRUCTURE LOGISTICS CENTER (SILC), BUSINESS OPERATIONS DIV (SILC) in Norfolk, VA
Duties
You will serve as the Division Head for the Business Operations Division (BOD) and as the Authorizing Official’s Designated Representative (AODR).
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- A Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Info clearance is required
- This is a drug testing designated position.
- The position requires a valid state driver's license.
Qualifications
At the GS-15 Level: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level (in the Federal sector).Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.Examples of specialized experience includes: Performs the full range of supervisory responsibilities, including but not limited to the following: Provides administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit. Performs the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised. Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff members, which are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system. Observes workers' performance; demonstrates and conducts work performance critiques. Provides informal feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Resolves informal complaints and grievances. Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary. Oversee a variety of management support and manpower issues, in support of the organization, concerned with long-range planning on a broad spectrum, with the principal goal of providing solutions to major management problems. Directly liaisons on behalf of the command for staff resource needs to senior officials, including non-routine Flag / SES level briefings.

Specialized Experience for GS-7 (or equivalent) and Above: Positions at GS-7 (or equivalent) and above require one year of specialized experience at the next lower GS-grade (or equivalent). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. The employing agency is responsible for defining the specialized experience based on the requirements of the position being filled.
