This position is located at Office of the Inspector General for Tax Admin,Office of Investigation. As a Supervisory Criminal Investigator Special Agent in Charge (SAC), you will serve as a Special Agent-in-Charge (SAC) for OI. The SAC heads an OI Division in one of the geographic (Field) divisions or Headquarters divisions of TIGTA. The SAC position reports directly to a Senior Executive.

Duties

As a criminal investigator, you will be called upon to spearhead the largest, most complex, and most sensitive criminal and occasionally non-criminal investigations which come under the jurisdiction of the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA). As a/an Supervisory Criminal Investigator Special Agent in Charge (SAC), you will: Be responsible for the management of a division's investigative program and/or OI functional programs, staff, budget, and assigned property. This investigative program investigates allegations involving employee integrity, employee and infrastructure security, and external attempts to corrupt Federal tax administration. Review, and after approval, forward the results of the investigative efforts to the Department of Justice, IRS management, or other authorities for appropriate action concerning the criminal and or administrative findings. Supervise a division of Special Agents and other personnel through Assistant Special Agents-in-Charge (ASAC) or Assistant Directors (AD). The SAC may also supervise a Deputy Special Agent-in-Charge (DSAC) or Deputy Director. Lead working groups and participate in conducting special assignments, studies, and projects in support of TIGTA's mission.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Medical Requirements: The duties of positions in this series require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Sufficiently good vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required to perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz levels. Since the duties of these positions are exacting and responsible, and involve activities under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself, or others is disqualifying. AND Age Restriction: The date immediately preceding an individual's 37th birthday is the maximum entry age for original appointment to a law enforcement officer position. This requirement does not apply to a) Preference-eligible veterans; OR b) Individuals who are 37 years of age or older and have previously served in law enforcement officer positions that were covered by a special law enforcement retirement plan. AND Specialized Experience: Specialized experience for the GS-15 is one year (52 weeks) of experience at the GS-14 level, that is directly related to the position as listed above and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: - Managing staff conducting on-going investigations (i.e., criminal, civil and administrative) of government programs and operations, public and private individuals, and corporations or entities; AND - Conducting operational reviews and evaluating quality of work for subordinate staff; AND - Leading employees in a management or supervisory capacity during investigations to ensure case documentation is accurate and up to date and all regulations, laws, and rules have been followed Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14level for 52 weeks.
