The incumbent serves as a Health Technician for the Urology Clinic within the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SGVHS).
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Knowledge to perform lab specimens, reports abnormal results according to policy, and performs quality controls per policy Position.
Knowledge of nursing service/infection control policies and procedures which prescribe thesafe performance of nursing care duties.
Performs as a technician on all surgical specialty CL diagnostic and treatment procedures.
Participates in patient and family teaching. Serves as patient advocate.
Orders and maintains expendable supplies.
Assists in gathering data for QI monitors for the GU Clinic.
Work Schedule: 7:30am to 4:00pm, Monday - Friday

Physical Requirements: Requires considerable walking within the clinic area, to and from the operating room, and radiology department. Fnx1uent bending, lifting, pushing, reaching, and stretching is required. Bending, reaching, and lifting are required when lifting boxes and instrument sets when stocking clinic with supplies. Reaching, bending, and stretching are required when moving patients onto stretchers, cystoscopy tables, x-ray tables, operating room tables, and wheelchairs. Lifting and carrying small to medium sized urological equipment and surgical instruments sets is required. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and possess adequate manual dexterity to handle and pass surgical instruments and supplies.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Specialized Experience, positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.

Specialized experience: Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to:
Assists with radiologic procedures.
Operates and maintains urological equipment and instrumentation.
Cleans, packages, and sterilizes urology instruments and equipment.
Assists with minor Outpatient Care such as, changing dressing etc..
Enters surgical specialty procedures in computer information systems such as DHCP and CPRS.
