The primary purpose of this position , METALLIZING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR, WG-3707-10T11, is to layout, plan, and perform interrelated sequences of metallizing operations. Operation of various automatic, semi-automatic, and manual metallizing machines to restructure aircraft parts, build up, and restore original dimensions.
Duties
Perform the full range of High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) work including operations that require coating of limited or precisely defined areas on parts that require special treatment and processing to insure adherence of the metallic deposit or coating; or require extensive or precise controls of the High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) process.
Set up, operate, and maintain High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) equipment.
Perform the full range of metallizing work including operations that require coating of limited or precisely defined areas on parts that require special treatment and processing to insure adherence of the metallic deposit or coating; or require extensive or precise controls of the metallizing process.
Based on knowledge of metallizing processes, and equipment consider the various angular and axial capabilities of machines, use provided fixtures, and innovate fixtures if required.
Use a variety of precision measuring instruments and equipment.
Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
TARGETED POSITION: This position is a developmental (e.g.: WG-10 Target WG-11) position. This position may be filled at any grade level. Individual selected may be promoted without further competition, upon meeting all legal and regulatory requirements. Starting salary indicated on this vacancy announcement is for the (WG-10). Attainment of knowledge, skills, and abilities is required before promotion to the next higher grade and is dependent on demonstrated ability to perform the duties of the next higher grade level, meeting all regulatory requirements, and recommendation for promotion by the supervisor. Promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed. Military Spouse candidates exercising their preference will be placed at the full performance level, if considered to be best qualified and selected.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-3700 Metal Processing Family.. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is Ability to Do the Work of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires frequent standing, stooping, bending, reaching, and lifting at shoulder level. Objects handled vary in shape, size, and intricacy and require extensive handling in coating processes, and in preparing and installing a wide variety of handling and holding devices. Frequently handles objects weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally objects weighing up to 75 pounds. Hoists, lifts, and other workers are available to assist in moving heavier items.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is usually performed in areas that are adequately lighted, ventilated, heated, and safety controlled. Danger from burns and metal particles; cuts from sharp objects edges. Eye strain from flames and heated metal. Work in high noise area of 85 decibels or above. Protections from exposure to burns, scalds, and skin irritations often require the workers to wear uncomfortable safety equipment such as leather gloves.
