You will serve as Ordnance Equipment Repairer in the Navy Munitions Command Detachment of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV CHINA LAKE. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will assemble and disassemble air launched and/or released weapons. You will inspect various ordnance systems for conformance with specifications. You will perform preventative maintenance on ordnance handling and support equipment. You will perform quality inspection on ordnance materials. You will perform a wide range of activities involved in receiving, issuing, storing, segregating, selecting, handling, prepping, inventorying and shipping ordnance material.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current explosives driver's license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current forklift operator's license.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Applying knowledge of weapons publications pertaining to inspections, storage and transportations; 2) Performing preventive maintenance on ordnance handling and support equipment; and 3) Repairing, overhauling, and testing of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components and assemblies of ordnance equipment. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
