The primary purpose of this position is : Operations Research Analyst trainee leading through the GG-07 grade to a target position of Operations Research Analyst, GG-1515-12. Participates in the preparation of cost estimates, cost models, analyses, reviews and studies for weapon systems, groups of systems or broad problems relating to business decision analysis and other decision analysis projects.

Duties

1. In a developmental capacity, works closely with senior Operations Research Analysts in using rigorous methods of logic and scientific discipline to design, develop and adapt mathematical cost models that will be used to evaluate the cost of various weapons systems and programs. 2. In a developmental capacity, assists in performing a broad range of weapons systems cost estimating and economic analysis assignments developing methodologies for evaluating the cost effectiveness of advanced weapons systems, related equipment, and force structures. 3. In a developmental capacity, performs a variety of cost estimating / analysis tasks for weapons system studies of limited scope and difficulty. 4. In a developmental capacity, uses automated financial management system(s) and computer-generated products in accomplishing financial management assignments. 5. In a developmental capacity, accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiency through professional interaction with technical and professional societies, associations, academia, symposia, contractors, research and development organizations,

Qualifications

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED: This position is Financial Management Level I and incumbent must meet appropriate certification requirements IAW the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) no later than 24 months after accepting this position This is a full-time position and is not eligible for part-time employment Acquire and utilize state-of-the-art knowledge and skills as they relate to technology and/or processes in the acquisition environment. . Supports the AF Core Competency related to the type of programs located in the organization, and serves the primary customers in the Air Force C2 community. Performs other related duties as assigned. The ability to deal effectively with people at all levels and in all functional areas is required. . Must have a bachelor's degree, which includes at least 24 semester hours in quantitative analysis courses. These 24 semester hours can be a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject matter courses requiring substantial competence in college level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. Advanced degree(s) are preferred. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/1500/operations-research-series-1515/ BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT(S). In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. My experience includes knowledge of weapons systems and cost and economic analyses principles, techniques and practices; and mathematical and analytical methods, techniques and procedures needed to develop and use models and conduct cost estimates and analytical studies in support of weapons systems cost studies and estimating efforts. NOTE: You must submit copies of your official transcripts, Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. OR EDUCATION: I have one year of graduate-level of education or superior academic achievement in a field directly related to the work of the position. MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT(S). OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: I have a combination of specialized experience as and graduate education to qualify for this position. MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT(S). KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: HERE 1. Ability to develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 7. Skill in interpersonal relations PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
