You will serve as a EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST (WHE) in the Public Works of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will conduct physical inventory of Weight Handling Equipment assets to reconcile inventory and property records.
You will conduct an annual review of the weight handling equipment support program to assess progress, identify problems, and determine which courses of action to take
You will verify the weight handling equipment program is in compliance with policies and regulations to support operations.
You will gather data and generate reports showing which crane certifications will expire by certain dates.
You will investigate equipment deficiencies to determine possible solutions.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Commercial Drivers license.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete an approved course of instruction for Certified Crane and Railroad Trackage as per NACFACINST 11230.1 series.
- You will be required to complete prescribed courses of instruction for Load Test Director and demonstrate adequate knowledge and/or skills as prescribed in NAVFAC P-307.
- Must obtain a state or federal certified crane operator with a current Department of Transportation physical.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes as the work environment dictates.
- You may be required to work overtime.
- You will be required to complete approved course of instruction for Certified Crane and Railroad Trackage as per NAVFACINST 11230.1 series.
- You must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift and aerial work platform certification within 90 days of entering the position.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Identifying deficiencies in the condition and operation of a wide variety of Weight Handling Equipment (WHE);
2) Scheduling and conducting various types of tests necessary to recommend certification or acceptance of Weight Handling Equipment;
3) Analyzing technical requirements related to WHE repair and maintenance;
4) Recommending corrective actions for operational, maintenance and/or repairs to WHE.

Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
