The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Deputy Regional Director (DRD) for the South-Central Region of Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Office of Intelligence and Analysis, Field Intelligence Directorate (FID).
Duties
The DRD will supervise geographically dispersed Intelligence Professionals assigned to State and Major Urban Area Fusion Centers and those personnel assigned to other state and local partners. The Intelligence Officers and Reports Officers support fusion centers, state, local, tribal, territorial and private sector partners (SLTTP), and DHS Components, by providing national-level intelligence support and sharing, as well as guide the managements and implementation of the intelligence cycle, in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and authorities, amongst fusion centers and other SLTTP partners.

Requirements
- Must be able to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance.
- This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Department of Homeland Security Headquarters Drug-Free Workplace Program.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Overtime may be required in response to a significant event.
- Overnight Travel of 1-5 nights per month may be required
- A mobility agreement is required
Qualifications
To qualify for the maximum GS-14 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service.
To qualify for this position, you must have one year of specialized experience which is defined as providing leadership to State and Major Urban Area Fusion Centers (Fusion Centers) and advocating for Fusion Center information needs with law enforcement and intelligence organizations. Such experience may include:
- Develop and recommend procedures for evaluating the information holdings of state and local partners, to include non-traditional sources of information residing in State and Local governments.
- Ensure compliance with statues and regulations for handling classified information, intelligence oversight and third-party access and release form a fusion center.
The competencies or knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform this job are:
1. Knowledge of the operations of the national intelligence community and associated functions, processes, principles, methods and procedures
2. Ability to apply the principles of intelligence operations and analytical principles used to gather, analyze and evaluate a variety of information from multiple sources with a focus on threat information.
3. Ability to effectively communicate with, and advise senior officials, management officials, program managers, specialist, contractor personnel, and representatives of other agencies for the purpose of reconciling differing or conflicting viewpoints; organizing information and presenting statements of position, and presenting information succinctly and clearly.
4. Demonstrated expertise and experience in providing authoritative guidance to government organizations to achieve high levels of operational success.

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
