About the Position: This is a PERMANENT Family Readiness Program Manager position located with US Army Central Command Group, Shaw AFB, SC.
Duties
Serves as a principal technical authority and subject matter expert at the staff level on all matters pertaining to Army Family readiness.
Develops, reviews, interprets, and implements policies and procedures in support of command-wide Soldier/Family programs.
Develops, coordinates, and provides comprehensive briefings, orientations and workshops for the command, soldiers, and family members in regards to all quality of life programs.
Develops a program to establish and maintain a fully interoperable database of families in the command.
Prepares and presents information and deployment briefings for soldiers, civilians, and their families.
Works with families and unit personnel to recruit and maintain an active volunteer force.
Provides oversight and coordinates for publishing the command newsletter.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Secret security clearance required.
- 25% temporary duty required.
- One-year probationary period may be required if not already completed in accordance with 5 CFR criteria.

Basic Requirement for Family Readiness Program Manager:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, etc.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) coordinating and/or carrying out a variety of Family Readiness and Assistance Programs; 2) assisting in the management of the Family Readiness and Assistance Systems, 3) researching and collecting data for the development of new Family Readiness and Assistance programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
Education
