This position will serve as the central point of contact for a wide range of administrative, office support, and clerical functions for the supervisor and others as assigned. In addition, serves as back-up to other assistants. The position will assist in meeting the operational and performance requirements for the Agency.
Duties
Provides program support to identify and resolve problems concerning assigned areas of responsibility.
Provide administrative support and coordination to the compliance team.
Responsible for the purchase of supplies, equipment, furniture, etc. for the staff. Assists in determining sources for supplies, costs, delivery terms and discount terms.
Assisting with preparing a variety of budgetary information utilizing the guidance provided by the supervisor, reviews information for accuracy and completeness
Establish and maintain a comprehensive file system, time and attendance reporting, processing, and scheduling travel arrangements for national and international travel, and meetings for team members as required.
Assists in maintaining comprehensive databases and responds to inquiries from sources internal and external to NRCS.
Provides support for designated actions to process in accordance with applicable regulations and guidelines. Analyzes documents for inconsistencies or missing data.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.

- Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
Specialized Experience for GS-07: To qualify for the GS-07 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing a variety of administrative support services in support of a business or program office, assisting in preparing operating budgets, making purchases of office supplies, equipment, vehicle and tracking expenditures, providing timekeeping services and reconciling time and attendance documents, making travel arrangements, and reviewing incoming and outgoing correspondence and other administrative documents.
Specialized Experience for GS-08: To qualify for the GS-08 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing a variety of administrative support services in support of a business or program office, preparing operating budgets for review, making purchases of office supplies and equipment and tracking expenditures, providing timekeeping services and reconciling time and attendance documents, making travel arrangements and reviewing travel reimbursement claims, and reviewing incoming and outgoing correspondence and other administrative documents.
NOTE: There is not education substitution for the GS-07 or GS-08 in the 0303 series.
