As the Division Administrator for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Division office, the candidate provides leadership in developing and administering a multifaceted transportation safety program through a multi‑level staff and represents the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration in dealings with Federal and State government and with local business officials on transportation safety and commercial transportation issues.

Qualifications

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.To qualify for the Grade 14, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-13, it must include: Experience in developing and implementing transportation safety programs and evaluating the effectiveness of these programs in two or more of the following areas: motor carrier safety compliance and enforcement; motor carrier safety assistance program; commercial driver licensing; motor carrier performance and registration information systems management; or hazardous materials. Experience managing or supervising that involved: planning and assigning work to subordinates; evaluating employee performance and providing advice and instruction; identifying training needs; hearing and/or resolving subordinate complaints; and/or effecting employee disciplinary action or recommending other related action. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Interpersonal Skills (*) - Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others; may include effectively dealing with individuals who are difficult, hostile, or distressed; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations; is sensitive to cultural diversity, race, gender, disabilities, and other individual differences.
