Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Equipment Mechanic. Duty Location: Shasta, California
Duties
- Performs overhaul and repair work on heavy-duty mobile and automotive equipment powered by internal combustion engines (such as gasoline, propane, diesel, multi-fuel or electric motors or combination hybrid vehicle) to include small miscellaneous equipment.
Overhauls, rebuilds, repairs, and maintains gasoline and diesel powered heavy mobile and automotive equipment such as bulldozers, tractors, road graders, cranes, draglines, forklifts, cars, trucks, and trailers.
- Works with hand tools common to the trade and operates garage equipment such as gas and arc welders, alignment machines, wheel balancers, headlight equipment, brake drum machines, drill presses, hydraulic or electric hoists.
- Makes repairs that can be accomplished by cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems such as fouled spark plugs, leaky wheel cylinders, corroded mufflers, and worn brake shoes.
- Uses diagnostic or measuring instruments such as oscilloscopes, dwell meters, volt ohm meters, vacuum gauges, battery starters/testers, fuel analyzers.
- Prepares, updates, and maintains records, reports, and forms that are required by regulations and written directives.

Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).
