THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a HEALTH TECHNICIAN, Position Description Number D2077000 and is part of the KS 235th Regiment, National Guard.

Duties

As a HEALTH TECHNICIAN, GS-0640-08, you will serve as the subject matter expert and advisor to the commander and staff on the brigade Individual Medical Readiness (IMR) program. Interpret policy and provides procedural guidance to the commander, staff members and individual military members. Keep current on and ensures the implementation of regulations and directives. Develop guidelines and operational procedures to implement changes to policies and programs directed by higher headquarters. Research and resolves the most difficult problems and questions, including those where guidance is only partially relevant or is incomplete. Accomplish a variety of statistical data/reports, analyzes the information, identifies trends, and makes recommendations to assist in management decisions. Conducts staff visits and provides training, guidance and assistance to Soldiers at the Brigade and subordinate units. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period. Requirements

• NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance within six months of appointment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas State driver's license prior to appointment.
• Must have and maintain a current Network License according to must maintain local network access IAW AFI 17-1301, Cybersecurity Program Management and AFMAN 17-1301, Computer Security.
• Must have the applicant’s military medical record must indicate Normal color vision as defined in AFI 48-123, Medical Examinations and Standards and Medical Standards Directory
• ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND OPM PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK"
• Must maintain HIPAA certification.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-4 through E-7 Compatible Military Assignments: 42A and all 68 series GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have thorough and detailed knowledge of, and skill in applying, a comprehensive body of rules, procedures, and operations, such as:- medical records activities, operations, and regulations;- medical terminology, procedures, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes;- medical record classification systems coding techniques; and- computerized data entry and retrieval systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have experience equivalent to the next lower level in support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists, and application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. Physical Demands: Work is sedentary. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Work Environment: Work is performed in a typical office setting. Special safety precautions are not required
