This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department in the Navy Region Southwest. The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the operation of the Bowling Pro Shop.
Duties
Responsible for operating the Bowling Pro Shop in accordance with established rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Custom fits and drills bowling balls to the following grip specifications such as full, semi-finger, fingertip or any combination of grips combined. Plugs and re-drills bowling balls.
Ensures proper display, pricing and sale of a wide assortment of bowling accessories such as bowling balls, bags, shoes and miscellaneous bowling aids. Maintains adequate stock levels, requisitions merchandise and ensures that established receiving and issuing procedures are followed.
Assists and advises patrons on purchase of merchandise to ensure satisfaction. Answers questions and attempts to solve problems. Refers dissatisfied patrons to supervisor.
Determines replacement and/or repair of bowling balls damaged in house by machinery or ball return. Make necessary repairs as required. Informs supervisor of equipment repair and/or replacement.
Responsible for the accountability of all merchandise in the Bowling Pro Shop. Conducts periodic inventories as required. Advises supervisor of all discrepancies found when spot checking merchandise.
Maintains accurate and timely reports/records.
Responsible for the custody and safekeeping of all records and property of the Bowling Pro Shop.
Operates a cash register according to standard cash control procedures. Responsible for own change fund. Completes daily activity reports and ensures proper deposit of cash receipts.
Performs general housekeeping tasks to ensure proper standard of appearance and cleanliness of assigned spaces.
Ensures compliance with fire and safety rules and regulations. Ensures proper shut down and lock up procedures are followed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- Must meet federal suitability requirements including successful completion of background investigation.
- Work schedule is flexible and will vary as required by the needs of the program to include night, weekend, and holiday shifts as well as split days off.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, carry, and lift items that weigh up to 40 pounds, occasionally required to lift heavier items requiring use of hand truck/dollies or assistance from assigned personnel.
Qualifications
Must have experience fitting and drilling bowling balls.
Must have a minimum of one (1) year experience in bowling pro shop operations.
Ability to maintain records and reports. Knowledge of inventory procedures.
Knowledge of machinery and equipment used in repairing bowling balls and accessories.
Ability to use handtools such as; hammers, wrenches, files, etc.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to deal effectively with others.
Education
A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
