This position reports directly to the Chief of Staff (COS) or Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS). The incumbent is responsible for setting overall goals for the Service Line that comply and support Veterans Administration (VA) Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) and PVAHCS strategic goals and objectives. The incumbent exercises exceptional latitude in the planning, design, implementation, accomplishment, ongoing evaluation and measurement of program.
Duties

Duties include but not limited to the following:
Planning, developing, coordinating, directing, and evaluating the clinical services of the Dental Service Line for PVAHCS.
The incumbent is responsible for developing strategic plans, policies, procedures, and organizational structures required to fulfill the service line's mission.
Manage the Dental Service Fee Basis and Community Care programs, VISN and VHA performance measures, and efficient and effective service delivery and resource management.
The incumbent has final decision-making authority, responsibility and accountability on all issues affecting the Dental clinical staff.
Performing wider-range and higher-level management functions for PVAHCS and VISN 22 through participation in planning and oversight boards, councils, and committees.
Responsible for overall Dental clinical operations This responsibility includes supervision of Dental Staff members at all Phoenix VAHCS Dental Clinics.
Providing direct health care to clients within incumbent's area of expertise, on a limited basis.
The incumbent collaborates with clinical and administrative operations and program/section managers to ensure integrated goals and priorities for Dental are established and met.
Developing and maintaining continuing programs in the areas of professional peer review, organizational improvement, continuing education, scope of practice, clinical privileging and other quality improvement activities.
The incumbent also works closely with peers in other services and management to meet the needs of the System's recognized internal and external customer groups.
He/she is responsible to ensure all residency, intern, and fellowship training program mandates are met in coordination with discipline service chiefs and program coordinators, internally and externally.
Facilitation and improvement of medical education and research.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30pm

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Dentist Basic Requirements
A degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery or dental medicine resulting from a course of education in dentistry. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are (1) United States and Canadian schools of dentistry listed by the Commission on Dental Accreditation(CODA), in the list published for the year in which the course of study was completed.(2) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia as qualifying for full and unrestricted licensure provided the licensure requirements include a written examination measuring science achievement and a performance examination measuring clinical competence certification, and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certificate, if claimed by the applicant. ~AND~
Completed, or you are currently completing, a residency program in general practice or specialty, or comparable experience as a dentist actively involved in treating medically compromised patients. ~AND~
Currently hold, or will hold, a current, full and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Note: Dentists must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.
Preferred Experience: Prior Dental Leadership Position, Prior VA Experience.
