The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the installation's Family Advocacy Officer (FAO) directly supervising staff consisting of social worker(s) & may include a registered nurse & support personnel. Integrates & organizes the Family Advocacy Program (FAP). Exercises responsibility for program effectiveness and promotes acceptance of the social work function.

Duties

Carries out program management responsibility for the installation Family Advocacy Program (FAP), ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and meeting customer needs. Holds primary responsibility for installation FAP executive functions. Represents FAP to (or on behalf of) the installation, group, squadron leadership through multiple installation and functional area organizations. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Carries full professional responsibility for assigned cases presenting a wide range of psychosocial and environmental problems from prevention, intervention, and treatment through case closure and/or transfer. Works to achieve and support quality improvement in all products and services.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, Social Work Series 0185 + IOR. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: DEGREE: Successfully completed a master's degree with a major in social work or fulfilled all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. NOTE: You must provide a copy of your transcripts with your application. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.
