About the Position: The employee directs and oversees the United States Army Criminal Investigation Laboratory (USACIL) investigative and compliance operational program activities (administration, resource management, operations policy, logistics, information management, engineering, evidence handling, and forensic casework operations) under the general administrative direction of the USACIL Assistant Director.
Duties
Enforces operational compliance program controls for forensic science disciplines.
Develops, coordinates, and implements policy, doctrine, organizational designs, materiel solutions, information technologies, and equipment planning to determine and meet customer forensic needs
Oversees and directs the work of DoD Liaisons in reviewing and analyzing evidence, determining the assignment of the evidence for appropriate forensic testing
Serve as the first-line supervisor over the USACIL investigative and compliance operational programs.
Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- DRUG TESTING: Must sign DA Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment for Certain Positions Identified as Critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program)
- Must pass urinalysis testing as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter. Position is subject to random drug testing IAW AR 600-85.
- AFFILIATION AND FINANCIAL INTEREST: The employee of this position is required to file a statement of employment and financial interests as required by Joint Ethics Regulations (JER), DoD 5500.7-R.
- TDY more than 25% may be required.
- Must participate in DNA profiling database within the USACIL.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes directing the development, implementation, and management of a Criminal Investigation Laboratory; implementing and enforcing operational investigative and compliance mission-oriented forensic programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
