Duties

As a Public Health Advisor you will: Independently, or as part of a team, carry out public health projects and/or programs. Serve as a principal representative for complex public health programs or projects. Provide substantive program advice and assistance. Responsible for carrying out significant program activities in Federal, state and local settings. Manage grants and cooperative agreements using relevant grants systems. Collaborate, partner and network to advance high-profile public health programs. Plan, develop and implement grant program activities.

Qualifications

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level, which must include the following experience: performing Project Officer duties for grants and cooperative agreements and work related to planning and implementing public health programs. . To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, which must include the following experience: providing technical advice and assistance in the implementation and evaluation of state, local or federal public health programs. Performing Project Officer duties for public health programs, management of grants and cooperative agreements, and grants management systems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Promotion potential: Promotion to the next grade level is at management's discretion and is based on your meeting qualifications and time-in-grade requirements, demonstrated ability to perform the higher-level duties, the continuing need for the higher-level duties, and administrative approval. Promotion to the next grade level is not guaranteed and no promise of promotion is implied.

Education
