The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the principal office assistant performing various clerical and administrative duties and administrative support to programs in an organization.
Duties
Prepares a wide variety of recurring & nonrecurring correspondence, reports, & other documents using varied & advanced word processing software.
Composes routine nontechnical correspondence, i.e. instructions/office procedures, info. requests, & letters.
Proofreads/edits materials and returns incorrect material with revisions marked.
May sign routine correspondence of a nontechnical nature in the supervisor's name or own name as the secretary to the supervisor.
Reviews & finalizes documents, in- & out-coming correspondence, materials, publications, regulations, & directives w/ minimal revisions.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year or will have one year within 120 days of closing of this announcement, specialized experience at the next lower grade, DU-01/GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include providing administrative support in an office setting, such as preparing, proofreading, or editing correspondence, scheduling appointments, greeting visitors, and answering phones. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement
OR
EDUCATION: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post two years above high school and general experience directly related to the work of this position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.
