This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

Duties

Serves as a radio frequency engineer conducting technical reviews, requirements analysis, and use of methodologies to support test and evaluation of RF systems for various waveforms (CDL, HF, UHF, SINCGARS, SATURN, etc.). Designs, plans, coordinates, and executes radio frequency system standards conformity. Develops operational and interoperability test and evaluations. Document test and evaluation results, conduct analysis, and draft reports. Solves engineering/scientific problems relating to tests and evaluations to determine which tests are to be performed. Test various methodology, and test whether facilities and instrumentation are adequate to achieve accurate test data. Operates and automates radio frequency test equipment such as signal analyzer, signal generator, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, channel emulator, and bit error rate tester.

  • Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions at the Defense Information Systems Agency will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. For the Computer Engineer GG-0854 and Electronics Engineer GG-0855 Series A. Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: Professional Registration Written Test Specified academic courses Related curriculum - With these criteria, applicants also need verification of employment from a supervisor stating you have performed professional engineering duties. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions (U.S. Department of Education/National Association of Credential Evaluation Services Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications. Therefore, provide only the attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Professional experience as a radio frequency technical lead or engineering lead. Conducting technical reviews, requirements analysis, and use of advanced/innovative strategies and methodologies which will be used to support test and evaluation (T&E). Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Education

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experienceat the GG-13 grade level.
