This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, Yard, Structural Group in Baltimore, MD.

Duties

The employee will perform all kids of trades task involved in construction, repairing, or renovating a wide variety of types and sizes of marine craft and vessels and in connection with miscellaneous manufacturing and facility projects performed at the Yard.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • Submit current SF-50.

Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:  Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) Knowledge of Equipment, Structure, Materials, etc. (includes constructing repair, and forging) Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Layout and Pattern Development (includes Geometric Projection and Triangulation) Ability to Use Hand Tools, Power Tools, etc., for Metal Work  Dexterity (Assembly Disassembly Reassembly etc) National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

This position does not have a positive education requirement. If you are including education on your resume, report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. See Required Documents section for detail.
