This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Supervise Medical Technicians and other assigned staff in the office. Set up, train, oversee and perform operator-level maintenance and calibrations on a wide variety of medical equipment, instruments and apparatus. Explain disqualifying conditions to applicants who have significant health issues discovered during the course of their examination. Coordinate with the Medical Officer, the MEPS Commander, Sector Advisors, and/or USMEPCOM staff for program improvements and enhancements. Establish and modify local work procedures governing all aspects of medical processing. Track and maintain medical assessment data. Perform and oversee Quality Review Procedures (QRP) on medical records.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position has been designated as non-sensitive and requires you to possess or obtain and maintain a personnel security background check.
• Incumbent must use restrictive and protective clothing such as surgical gloves, employee cannot wear exposing footwear.
• Occasional shift work (before 0600 or after 1800 hours) may be required.
• Occasionally may be required to work Saturdays.
• Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training is required in order to access the MHS GENESIS System with 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: Performing complex laboratory tests and examinations in a clinical setting; Implementing quality control processes to ensure the accuracy of test results; Performing phlebotomy on patients for diagnostic purposes; Leading junior medical technicians or healthcare personnel; Conducting a review of patient records to ensure the presence of test results. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone.
