This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: The Walla Walla District US Army Corps of Engineers helps manage water resources for navigation, flood damage reduction, hydroelectric power generation, and other natural and heritage areas.
Duties
Performs lead environmental planner duties for projects with emphasis upon natural ecological systems and human environmental relationships.
Leads or performs environmental evaluations, environmental assessments, and prepares environmental impact evaluations required by law (i.e. NEPA or CWA and related) for potential flood control and multipurpose water resource projects.
Prepares and/or assists others in the district in preparation of environmental impact statements.
Reviews and provides input on environmental aspects of planning and design reports.
Determines environmental requirements and procedures for District activities.
Recommends environmental alternatives during planning activities.
Participates in the development, preparation, and monitoring of contracts for environmental data, impact analysis, and related studies.
Performs studies and research related to various basic environmental conditions, such as ecological inventories, pre-impoundment and post-impoundment monitoring.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
