About the Position: This position is located at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane County, WA. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Duties

Administer Medical Group information systems to ensure proper operation of equipment, analyze and resolve system problems, and evaluate system requirements. Monitor network systems to ensure hardware and software are functioning properly and that operational standards are met. Troubleshoot hardware, software, Wide Area Network (WAN), and Local Area Network (LAN) problems, working through or around problems with reduced capacity to resolve system issues. Conduct life cycle management of computer systems/software, evaluate and analyze of computer equipment/systems to determine if the facility can provide for system requirements, infrastructure is in place for system support and recommend improvements. Provide training and/or assistance on information security, accountability for computer equipment and new customer training on computer systems. Monitor help desk trouble tickets, providing technical assistance to current and potential system users, conduct system diagnostics using troubleshooting procedures, and identify and resolve software/hardware problems. Develop and implement disaster plans, contingency operations plans, security plans and procedures, and exercise them on a regular basis. Perform automated systems/material acquisition to request and obtain hardware, software, and supplies based on user requests, system expansion, or changes; track and monitor system orders.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• Position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is required.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• This position requires the Information Assurance (IA) certification within six months of date of time. See Additional Information section for more information.

Basic Requirements for Computer Assistant: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes monitoring network systems to ensure proper operation of hardware and software systems, and providing troubleshooting assistance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
