This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves as the Chief of Information Technology and Security at the Forensic Toxicology Drug Testing Laboratory on Fort Meade. This position also serves as Information System Security Manager (ISSM) / Information System Security Officer (ISSO) for the FT Meade FTDTL.
Duties
Work with the Department of Defense Drug Demand Reduction Program (DOD-DDRP) Enclave ISSM and ISSO to ensure DDRP requirements, objectives and policies are properly executed.
Manage the initiation, coordination, and documentation of plans for items such as software, hardware, documentation, and version releases.
Monitor, evaluate, and maintain systems and procedures to safeguard Information Systems.
Identify and track modifications required to enhance and maintain the installed hardware and software configuration of assigned tasks.
Maintain and configure local servers to ensure they are updated and functioning to support the laboratory.
Utilize multiple applications to ensure laboratory cyber security compliance including Administration Configuration of Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS); Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA); PCAT4; and others.
Resolve problems and provide end user support relative to all aspects of Information Technology (IT) systems and perform customer service 'help desk' duties.
Use established practices and techniques to plan and develop operational test plans and evaluation plans for systems that primarily impact local operation.
Requirements
- May be required to wear an electronic pager or cellular telephone and maintain a working home telephone at all times.
- The incumbent must possess CompTIA Security + certification.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- Physical examination is required for this position.
- Position may require that you obtain and maintain a Systems Administrator/Network Administrator level II certificate.
- Position may require that you obtain and maintain an Information Assurance (IA) Level II certification.
- This position is designated as sensitive IT-II for Information Technology purposes.
- Position may require to work weekend call duties and evenings.
- The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- This position requires travel away from duty station, TDY less than 25%. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must demonstrate t least one year of information technology related specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level of pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
