The primary purpose of this position: This is a WG-05 trainee position under the Target Promotion Program (TPP) with the full performance level of WG-10. Trainee will receive formal, informal and on-the-job training in the specialty area. Assignments will become progressively more difficult in nature. Assignments are designated to provide knowledge, skills and abilities.

Duties

Assists journeyman level technician or supervisor by performing the simpler and more routine duties of the trade. Under close supervision, performs preventive maintenance on electrical power support systems. Under close supervision, assists higher grade mechanics on assignments performing minor repairs on power support system components such as diesel, multi-fuel, or gas turbine engines, and electrical accessories of engines. Under close supervision, assists in troubleshooting electrical power support systems such as electrical power plants and power distribution equipment. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the ???WG-5300 Industrial Equipment Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
