The primary purpose of the position is to lead a team of Motor Vehicle Operators where the highest level of work is Motor Vehicle Operator, WG-5703-06 in the Veterans Transportation Program, Health Administration Service at the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS).
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
The incumbent is both an MVO and Lead and will drive as required.
Provides leadership, coordinates, and schedules maintenance of all VTS vehicles assigned to the station to ensure they maintain satisfactory mechanical condition.
Distributes and balances work distribution among employees.
Maintains knowledge level sufficient to answer technical questions of subordinate employees.
Obtains the necessary information or decision from supervisors regarding challenges that arise during the performance of duties within VTS.
Provides leadership, coordinates, and schedules vehicle maintenance, resolves issues/complaints, and refers more complex challenges to the supervisor.
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Physical Requirements: The Motor Vehicle Operators will exert light physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls. They exert moderate physical effort in the frequent handling of objects weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds), and the occasional handling of heavier objects while loading cargo, with the assistance of other workers or weight handling equipment. Moderate physical effort is required in operating, turning, backing, and controlling vehicles which carry heavier loads or larger numbers of people than vehicles at the grade 6 level.
Working Conditions: The work is performed both inside and outside. Drivers work mostly outside and operate vehicles in all kinds of weather in a controlled traffic environment throughout a government installation or establishment. Drivers are exposed to dirt and fumes, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle. Drivers operate vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads (or the equivalent) and are exposed to the danger of serious accidents. They drive in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems.
