This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. Duties

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Propulsion Flight or Section Supervisor exercising technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing trades and labor work as well as to train reservists in the duties and responsibilities set forth herein. Duties: Performs work planning responsibilities. Based on established work schedules, determines work sequence and makes work assignments accordingly. Ensures that adequate equipment, tools, parts, materials, and assets are available. Performs work direction responsibilities. Maintains surveillance of work in progress and concentrates on problem areas in order to ensure that work flow continues as scheduled. Performs administrative responsibilities. Reviews and certifies employee time and attendance records ensuring all entries are correct. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8600 - Engine Overhaul Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.The screen out element for this position is the ability to lead or supervise as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic Supervisor. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/Equal Employment Treatment. Knowledge in using and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and/or test equipment. Knowledge in troubleshooting, inspecting, and/or tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems. Knowledge and practical application of MIS (e.g. CAMS, GO-81) programs. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.6: Ability to implement sound personnel policies, practices, and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments. The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position. Performs other related duties as assigned. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in UTA. The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. This is a testing designated position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Heavy lifting (45-79 pounds). Moderate carrying (15-44 lbs). Hours of straight pulling are 1 hour per week. Hours of pushing is 1 hour per week. Reaching above shoulder. Use of fingers. Both hands required. Hours of walking are 4 hours per week. Hours of standing are 10 hours per week. Hours of crawling are 1 hour per week. Hours of kneeling are 1 hour per week. Hours of repeated bending are 3 hours per week. Climbing, use of legs and arms. Both legs required. Operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle may be required. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable at 13 inches to 16 inches to Jaeger 1 to 4. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other. Both eyes required. Depth perception. Ability to distinguish basic colors. Hearing (with or without aid). ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Outside and inside (other than normal commuting). Excessive noise, intermittent. Constant noise. Electrical energy. Slippery or uneven walking surface. Working around machinery with moving parts. Working around moving objects or vehicles. Working closely with others. TEMPORARY PROMOTION STATEMENT: This is a Temp Promotion position NTE 30 Sep 2027 (AFMAN 36-203 2.20.4). In accordance with DODI 1400.25 Vol 2005, dtd 3/3/12, the individual selected for this position may be extended or made permanent without further competition. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
