We provide primary care and specialty health services, including mental health services, neurology, prosthetics, physical therapy, and more. Our Sick Call Clinic provides immediate attention for medical or mental health illness and/or minor injuries. Sick Call accepts walk-ins weekdays only from 8 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Duties
Performs the administrative and personnel management function relative to staff supervised. Incumbent will have established guidelines and performance expectations for staff, clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system. Observes workers' performance; demonstrates and conducts work performance critiques. Provides informal feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Incumbent works to resolves informal complaints and grievances. Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary. Provides advice and counsel to workers related to work and administrative matters. Effects disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area. Reviews and approves or disapproves leave requests. Incumbent assures that subordinates are trained and fully comply with the provisions of the safety regulations.
You will supervise employees to accomplish the work of the organization unit. Exercises supervisor authorities and responsibilities involving work assignment and review, as well as, the administrative and personnel management functions relative to the staff supervised.
You will perform program analysis, development, review, research, design, and contact work as possible with various agencies (public, DOD, state, etc.). Performs work related to the review, monitoring, analysis, planning and assessment of various programs.
You will function as both a clinician providing direct patient care and a supervisor within the area assigned. In Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MHRRTP) the supervisor will be responsible for the following clinical duties: - Attend treatment team(s) with Psychiatrist NP, RN, Pharmacist, Psychologist, and/or Chaplain - Provides independent consultation and makes recommendations to interdisciplinary team on course of treatment. - Assist in the completion of a comprehensive psychosocial assessment - Provides individual and group counseling services - Monitors veteran's progress, maintains comprehensive documentation, ensures expert diagnosis and treatment of clinical disorders, and shows competent discretion in decision to adjust treatment - Prepare and fax documents for payee, fiduciary, and guardian - Distress Alarms (immediate assistance to other area of hospital requiring immediate attention) - Other duties as assigned within the clinical assignment Performs other related duties as assigned. 4. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS The incumbent is directly responsible to the MHRRTP Assistant Program Manager, but practices independently, exercising initiative and independent judgment in day-to-day activities. Supervision/consultation is of an administrative and professional nature. In unusual and/or complex administrative and clinical problems, the incumbent initiates consultation with the MHRRTP Assistant Program Manager, other appropriate clinical leader, or Executive Leadership Team Member as appropriate as well as with other authoritative resources at the Medical Center, such as Regional Counsel, Quality Manager, Business Office, Fiscal, and Health Administration Services. The MHRRTP Assistant Program Manager conducts the performance appraisal. 5. CUSTOMER SERVICE REQUIREMENTS Effectively communicates with and utilizes other disciplines (e.g., nursing, medicine) to facilitate treatment planning and implementation. With few exceptions, participates effectively in team meetings, treatment planning conferences, etc. Collaborates with divergent multidisciplinary team members in a manner that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care. Incumbent meets the needs of customers while supporting VA missions. Consistently communicates and treats customers (veterans, their representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Incumbent provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the consumer constructively and appropriately.

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Education. Have a Master's degree in social work (MSW) from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. Please note: A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work.
Licensure. Licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.
English Language Proficiency. Social workers must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Regulations.
May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).
Must pass a background check.

Grade Determinations: Meets the qualification standard for the GS 12 Social Work Supervisor as defined in VA Handbook 5005, Part II Appendix G39, Social Worker Qualification Standard GS-185 Veterans Health Administration.
The Social Worker has a Master's Degree in Social Work granted by a graduate program fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for subordinate staff to qualify for licensure.
Their experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following professional KSAs:
- Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines.
- Knowledge and skill in management/administration, which includes supervision, consultation, negotiation, and monitoring.
- Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services by supervised social workers.
- Ability to provide administrative supervision and clinical supervision, including supervision for social work licensure.
