The following are the duties of this position at the GS-07. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As a Housing Program Assistant, you will:
Recognize inquiries on matters of policy or technical nature requiring personal attention of the Supervisory Project Manager and keep the Supervisor informed of all matters which will eventually require a decision.
Prepare necessary input material for computer-tracking system, sets target date for processing, assures all environmental and government official comments are requested and received and assures that 2530 clearances are received and reviewed.
Provide information of HUD application procedures to applicants and others in response to telephone calls, letters and personal inquiries.
Initiate correspondence, such as acknowledgment letters, requests for additional information and transmittal memorandums filling in references, dates, citations from manuals, regulations, etc., which requires researching and extracting from files and records.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-07, Specialized Experience is one (1) year of experience at the GS-06 level, or equivalent, which is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and has equipped the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position successfully. Specialized experience is defined as follows:
- Receiving, logging, and reviewing correspondence according to established standards and procedures; AND
- Responding to visitor and caller questions requiring standard responses and forwarding technical questions to appropriate office personnel; AND
- Editing documents used in final drafts or presentations by management; AND
- Monitoring and analyzing data to ensure that they meet standard of timelines and accuracy for distribution within or outside the office.
For the GS-06, Specialized Experience is one (1) year of experience at the GS-05 level, or equivalent, which is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and has equipped the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position successfully. Specialized experience is defined as follows:
- Receiving, logging, and reviewing correspondence according to established standards and procedures; AND
- Responding to visitor and caller questions requiring standard responses and forwarding technical questions to appropriate office personnel; AND
- Editing documents used in final drafts or presentations by management; AND
- Collecting, organizing, and retrieving data for distribution within or outside the office for review and analysis.
For the GS-05, Specialized Experience is one (1) year of experience at the GS-04 level, or equivalent, which is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and has equipped the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position successfully. Specialized experience is defined as follows:
- Receiving, logging, and reviewing correspondence according to established standards and procedures; AND
- Responding to visitor and caller questions requiring standard responses and forwarding technical questions to appropriate office personnel; AND
- Editing documents used in final drafts or presentations by management.
OR
4 years above high school
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.
Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-07 you must have been at the GS-06 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-06 you must have been at the GS-05 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-05 you must have been at the GS-04 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
Education
The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the
