This position will be assigned to the Air Force Services Center at Port San Antonio, Tx.
This is a regular full-time category position with guaranteed 40 hours per week. Employees appointed to a regular category position are eligible for benefits.
Duties
Performs the full range of accounting duties using double-entry accrual accounting methods in accordance with DoD and Air Force regulations. These duties are carried out for both the Agency and Air Force-wide programs. Acts as the Agency liaison with the government travel card provider. Computes and adjudicates NAF travel and PCS expenses for Agency personnel, management interns, career personnel, sports participants, Tops in Blue. Training, and other Air Force-wide centrally funded programs. Responsible for validating billings connected with the Chief of Staff Protocol as well as payment requests for all NAF shipping costs of household goods world-wide. Classifies and verities a wide variety of accounting documents to assure their mathematical correctness and completeness of information and to prepare control documents with appropriate accounting codes. Prepares journal entries. Maintains subsidiary ledgers and posts entries to establish the accounts. Prepares monthly balances and reconciles to appropriate general ledger accounts. Traces discrepancies, if necessary, to supporting documents. Prepares and reviews documents which involve receipt and disbursements of AF Central NAFs' cash. Maintains data base files as required. Coordinates with supervisor on program changes needed and works with appropriate personnel to accomplish objectives. Communicates with personnel in the field, Agency personnel, and others as required to resolve problems and correct discrepancies. Prepares reports which may include financial statements and other miscellaneous financial reporting data. Performs other duties, including backup duties, as required.

Qualifying Experience:
Responsible clerical or office work of any kind that demonstrates experience to perform the duties of this position. Demonstrated arithmetic aptitude experience, accuracy and attention to detail to compile and record data. Progressively responsible experience with double-entry accounting procedures and techniques. Basic experience with the operation of microcomputers and current standard software applications.

Basic understanding of the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR).
