This position is at the VA Medical Center and is organizationally aligned under the Chief Financial Officer in the Accounts Management department located in Ashville, NC or Smyrna, TN.
There are multiple positions available in each location.
Duties

This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS 7. At the GS 6 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS 7. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher-level work and availability of funds.

Billing (Inpatient, Outpatient, and Specialty Services)
Collections (First and Third Party)
Pharmacy Claims Processing
Accounts Receivable Management (Denials Management, Open Account Follow-up)
Customer Service (First Party Debt Management)
Financial and Performance Reporting
Patient Access (Preregistration)
Insurance Identification and Verification
Quality Assurance
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
For the GS 6 you must possess 1 yr. of Specialized Experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS 05) in Federal Service that includes performing the following duties: Review and analyze case information, remittance statements and accounts receivable records.; Maintain accounts receivable and supporting documentation.; Validate and monitor account receivable transactions.; Correspond with internal and external agency customers, beneficiaries, vendors, insurance companies, legal representatives, and General Counsel by mail, email, telephone or facsimile.
For the GS 7 you must possess 1 yr. of Specialized Experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS 06) in Federal Service that includes performing the following duties: Interpret system, administrative and financial data to identify problems and recommends solutions.; Review and analyze case information, remittance statements and accounts receivable records.; Maintain accounts receivable and supporting documentation.; Validate and monitor account receivable transactions.; Correspond with internal and external agency customers, beneficiaries, vendors, insurance companies, legal representatives, and General Counsel by mail, email, telephone or facsimile.; Reconcile error reports and take corrective action between different systems.; Ensure adequate justification documentation is in place to support a refund or rebuttal of refund request.
