THIS IS AN INDIANA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This position is part of the IN Surface Maintenance Office, Indiana National Guard under Position Description Number D1254000. If you would like the complete list of duties, please contact the POC of this announcement.

Duties

Analyzes and resolves a variety of conventional maintenance management problems to improve existing maintenance operations, production, and practices that impact the overall maintenance program. Establishes methods and procedures to ensure maintenance tasks performed meet or exceed established policies and regulations. May serve as a member of the Command Maintenance Evaluation Team (COMET). Oversees and provides technical guidance regarding Class IX (Class 9) repair parts management; develops policy and procedures; and evaluates and revises, as needed. Establishes and monitors the shop safety and health program. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • This position is INDEFINITE NTE 24 months, with possible extension up to 60 months, and permanent potential.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

Qualifications

MILITARY GRADES: E5 through E9, or WO1 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with a knowledge of equipment maintenance work, or skill in reading engineering drawings and specifications, using test instruments, making computations, and keeping records. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (as stated above) that provided experience, education or training applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment, facility, or service operations sufficient in designing projects or planning assignments. Experience using well-established occupational methods and techniques to determine facility, grounds, equipment overhaul, maintenance, restoration, repair needs, etc. PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY AS THE FOLLOWING HAS CHANGED Indiana National Guard (INNG) Federal Technicians will wait 18 months after being selected for a new position before applying for another position within the INNG.
