Duties
Performs a wide variety of repair, rebuild, modification, inspection, and testing of self-propelled artillery, towed artillery, turret mounted weapon systems, and associated mechanisms.
Works on complete artillery pieces or a wide variety of major components, complex assemblies, and systems.
Traces circuits by referring to schematic diagrams and visually inspects circuits for faulty insulation, poor electrical contacts, and broken or worn electrical components.
May serve as a commodity inspector during Command Maintenance Management evaluations (COMET) or as a member of a Maintenance Assistance Instruction Team (MAIT).
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Qualifications
MILITARY GRADES: E4 through E7
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic system operations. Experience demonstrating the ability to fit and adjust parts and assemblies.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training in dismantling, cleaning, and reassembling various artillery subassemblies. Experience which has demonstrated the ability to diagnose malfunctions by recognizing worn or damaged parts by measurement, strength of springs or dimension of parts. Experience using hand tools, a limited number of measuring instruments, and a variety of test equipment. Experience which demonstrated the ability to interpret and apply a variety of technical manuals and similar published materials.
Specialized Experience Requirements for NGB Federal Wage System Positions for claiming civilian job experience: Creditable experience must have been performed at least 30 consecutive days and be properly documented.
Experience in the same line of work can only be credited on the basis of a regular 40-hour workweek. Hours per week MUST be documented on resume to receive any credit.
