About the Position: Serves as a Lead Security Guard assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM supported installations.
Duties
Provide status updates on accountability and serviceability of all shifts assigned equipment.
Conduct security patrols to observe the on-duty performance of shift personnel.
Provide on-the-job training to new employees and identify developmental needs for the guard force.
Plan work to be accomplished by employees and make adjustments to meet changes in security to ensure coverage during shifts and emergencies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- This position requires a high standard of conduct, and you must be assessed under the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) in compliance with AR 190-56 requirements
- Incumbent must meet the requirements under the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
- This position requires proficiency in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons in compliance with IAW AR 190-56.
- Successful graduation from Security Guard training is required for continued employment.
- This position requires passing a pre-employment and annual physical fitness/agility test (PAT).
- This position is a Drug testing designated position in accordance with (IAW) AR 600-85.
- This position requires incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver license.
- This position requires wearing a Department of Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56 and maintain a high standard of appearance and hygiene.
- This position requires wearing protective gear and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
- This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
- This position requires training and maintaining certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
- This position requires certification with the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN), Public Safety Commission, for access and exposure to law enforcement sensitive information and operation of NLETS/NCIC terminals.
- This position requires the incumbent to perform as a member of the installation's overall security response capability.
- This position requires shift work or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Overtime may be required as directed and is subject to recall for periods of emergency overtime.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which is defined as and includes protecting property against such hazards as: fire, theft, damage, accidents and trespassing. Coordinating communications during emergency situations, writing and reviewing incident reports; and controlling access to restricted areas. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
