About the Position: You will serve as an Army Emergency Relief Specialist at the Army Community Services Division, under the general supervision of the Personal Financial Readiness Manager or Army Community Service Division Chief; making available loans, grants and referrals, to authorized personnel.

Duties

Prepare and maintain financial records and reports using automated systems. Prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures to ensure compliance with regulations. Review information obtained from clients to determine eligibility for financial assistance from the appropriate social aid services program. Provide briefings and reports to leadership on emergency relief policies, procedures, loan status and requirements. Ensure clients understand their responsibility and their reporting requirements for the application and repayment processes. Review financial audit findings to assure all corrective actions have been taken.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position may require 5% business travel (TDY).
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours.
  • Overtime and irregular tour of duty may be required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes demonstrated experience: Providing information to individuals and families in need of financial and emergency services; Using computer software to prepare and maintain financial records and reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Financial Management and Social Work. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Financial Assistance MechanismsManages and Organizes Information Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
