YOU WILL SERVE AS AN OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST OR DATA SCIENTIST IN THE AIR SYSTEMS GROUP LOGISTICS DEPT READINESS & FLEET ANALYTICS DIV ADVANCED ANALYTICS & INNOVATION BR of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

Duties

You will design, develop, and adapt mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other scientific methods and techniques. You will analyze management problems and provide advice and insight about the probable effects of alternative solutions. You will identify the methods, processes, algorithms, tools, and systems to extract and interpret findings from varied structured and unstructured data sets related to the data science lifecycle. You will develop algorithms and/or tools to support data manipulation and processing.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • Must obtain and maintain all required certification and/or license as a condition of employment.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09/11) or pay band (DP-03) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Operations Research Analyst or Data Scientist. Specialized experience should demonstrate the following: 1) Must have experience leading a team or group of people to effectively deliver a technical data focused product; 2) Organize, manage, and execute funds for members on their team; 3) Lead and apply data analytics (or science) techniques, methods, and tools to produce a functional end product; 4) Experience with using the Scrum framework (or other agile frameworks) to lead teams of engineers and scientists to build data analytical products; 5) Address and resolve conflict between members on the team or technical work within their team; 6) Lead the development of user-centric interactive reports, data analysis, data science techniques, and visualization solutions (e.g., Tableau, Qlik, and Power BI). Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess

1515 SERIES
Bachelor's or higher degree in operations research.

OR

Bachelor's or higher degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics and at least 3 of the 24 semester hours are in calculus.

1560 SERIES
I have a bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or a field directly related to the position.

OR

I have a combination of education and experience, where my courses are equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or a field directly related to the position, plus additional education or appropriate experience that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
