This position serves as a Lead Computer Scientist and scientific information technology advisor, with responsibility for providing scientific leadership and guidance for the programs and activities of the Scientific Computing Informatics Core (SCIC) at the Intramural Research Program (IRP) of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) in Baltimore, MD.
Duties
Serve as a Scientific IT Advisor in planning and directing IT network projects.
Plan and integrate new processes, techniques, and procedures to solve problems and address IT requirements.
Monitor IT performance and processes and recommend strategies or methods for improvement.
Serve as liaison among scientific, technical and administrative staff on large IT projects.
Assesses changes in iSDP program and reports potential impacts.

Qualifications
You qualify at the GS-14 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements:
Basic Requirements: You must have a Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions
AND
To qualify at the GS-14 level, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: planning, directing, advising on, and conducting large-scale projects; leading scientific IT infrastructure team in managing research data; serving as a scientific IT liaison within an organization on IT efforts involving scientific data and/or processes; and managing contracts for IT services and products.
