About the Position: Serve as Army Community Services Division Chief at a medium size garrison with full professional and technical responsibility for the programs to include planning, marketing, and accountability for the quality of services provided and for overall program effectiveness.

Duties

Provide vision and communicate mission and organization goals to all subordinates. Direct, develop, and administer plans and procedures, and implement regulations to provide for a comprehensive Soldier and family support program. Review all activities and programs to ensure they are operating in the most efficient manner and they are providing the best possible services. Serve on a variety of ACS activity councils to keep informed on operations and/or to coordinate programs and requirements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations
  • The duties of this position may require the incumbent to carry a cell phone and be on call on a rotational basis, based on the needs of the organization.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing working relationships with a broad range of organizations; performing broad management functions associated with family programs and services; establishing program goals to support operations in accordance with governing laws and regulations; and coordinating community resources for provision of services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
