About the Position: You will serve as a technical expert, utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning Systems (GPS), information systems, and computers to plan, coordinate, and accomplish all mapping, geospatial analysis, and related GIS tasks necessary to support the organization.

Duties

Plan, coordinate, and implement the EGIS as it relates to Corps of Engineers (COE) support to USACE customers. Oversee Enterprise Geographic Information Systems (eGIS/EGIS) personnel who are experts in the fields of geography, GIS, GPS, computer systems and information management to support Corps of Engineers projects. Serve as a technical POC for the development and implementation of EGIS and/or geospatial data integration plans related to the engineering and construction community. Provide guidance to eGIS personnel on the work to be done, and assists in the planning and execution of significant projects. Direct GIS team personnel, including GIS analysts and other information management personnel in the implementation and maintenance of eGIS resources and projects. Coordinates and develops computer application software, routines, and macros (especially using ESRI software) to aid in the data collection, editing, manipulating and generating of interim and final digital data and GIS products.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience (GS-12): One year of specialized experience which includes 1.) Using geospatial systems in support of projects which include GIS, GPS, EGIS and similar geospatial modeling systems; 2.) Providing procedural and technical guidance on GIS systems; and 3. ) Reviewing Technical components of finished geospatial products and providing input on areas requiring additional attention and/or correction. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11 in or above). Specialized Experience (GS-13): One year of specialized experience which includes [insert examples of specialized experience].
