THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32) OBO, Position Description Number NGD2390000 and is part of the TN ARMY National Guard. This vacancy is covered by Association of Civilian Technicians (ACT), Chapter 110.

Duties

As an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (UH-72A) MILITARY WG-8852-12, you will manage, monitor or perform overall maintenance within the CAMP and FAA framework, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance UH-72A military aircraft. Request maintenance services exceeding AASF capabilities or time constraints. Maintain UH-72A aircraft under FAA and manufacturer guidelines and conduct inspections IAW Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) maintenance publications and special inspection criteria as outlines in FAA, OEM and Army maintenance and safety messages. Plan, develop and conduct proficiency training during the technician work week to a multi-faceted workforce comprised of Full Time Support (FTS) and supported unit personnel. Comply with safety, fire, security, environmental, and housekeeping regulations. Ensure material and equipment are properly and safely maintained and protected. Ensure current up to date compliance and conformity to all FAA and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) regulatory requirements. May participate in operational flights as a crewmember. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • The incumbent must possess/obtain within 12 months of position selection, an A and P certificate issued by the FAA per CFR Title 14, part 65, subpart D.
  • The incumbent must possess or be eligible for award of the appropriate security clearance for this position.
  • The incumbent may be required to maintain NGB Non-Aviator Flying Status and qualified for Class III flying duties.
  • Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-4 through E-6 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications; skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to journey-level experience or training equivalent to or exceeding the WG-10 grade level, perform duties as a dedicated crew chief; responsible for performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing the work and any periodic inspections to be done on an aircraft whether it is alone, or with the assistance of other mechanics and/or workers; experience or training coordinating the work of other journey-level workers in other trades to work simultaneously on the aircraft, or serving as the technical authority to advise on, examine, and approve all airframe, mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic repairs of assigned aircraft.
